Functional EEG

Dr. Dave uses the state of the art Functional EEG to help diagnose and treat: anxiety, insomnia, depression, chronic pain, brain fog, memory decline, ADD/ADHD, PTSD. It is an advanced brain health test that is not only effective, but painless and quick as well. It offers treatment options that have proven to have great patient outcomes.

The Functional EEG uses state-of-the-art hardware and software systems for brain and heart electrophysiological measurement. It provides unique patient data that improves differential diagnosis, tracking of treatment success, and new available treatment options for brain and heart health.

The Functional EEG includes Heart Rate Variability (HRV) testing. HRV measures are linked to anxiety and stress related conditions, cognitive decline and heart disease incidence.

Functional EEG Assessment measures the following attributes:

BRAIN POWER

Impacts energy and drive. Loss of power causes fatigue, disturbed sleep, and diminished libido.

BRAIN EFFICIENCY

Determines the brain’s ability and speed at recognizing and reacting to everyday events. A decline in efficiency may impair memory, learning, ability to drive a car, perform at work or enjoy life.

COGNITIVE CAPACITY

Represents the total amount of information the brain is capable of retaining at any given time. Weakened capacity may cause an inability to focus and lead to stress, anxiety and low self esteem.

HEART RATE VARIABILITY

Measurements are linked to anxiety and stress related conditions. Low HRV is linked to cognitive impairment as well as heart disease.

Brain speed is a reliable marker of cognitive capacity as well as early detection of mild cognitive decline. It shows how well functioning brain regions compensate for dysfunctional regions. This allows for specific determination of varied treatments and the ability to track changes over time.

Analysis of the data generated from the exam can identify the specific electrical frequency markers of physiological aging and memory performance.

The Event-Related Potentials (ERP) testing component measures real-time cognitive processing essential for healthy brain functions and early risk measures of dementia including: decision making, organization, attention, memory, and visual and language processing. Inattention, impulsivity, motor processing speed and reaction time linked to cognitive impairment are also measured using ERP testing.

The Functional EEG exam is a safe, non-invasive process. You will be sitting in a chair in front of a computer. A special cap measured to your size will be placed on your head. Sensor sites on the cap will be filled with gel by a blunt, plastic syringe. This is done in order to ensure good contact with your scalp through your hair at each sensor site. During the exam there will be times where your eyes may be open or closed. Additionally, you may be asked to do activities such as use the computer mouse, listen to sounds, read silently, listening, doing puzzles etc.

The process should last approximately 45 – 60 minutes. A trained staff member will administer the test under Dr. Dave's supervision.
